Then use Tyler SIS to request classes for next year. If you want to know more about any class then please click on the class title.

Requirements for graduating high school are different from the requirements for entering a University from high school.

Importantly if you want to go directly on to college you need to take a foreign language like Spanish for 2 semesters. Please request the Spanish classes using the form on the right side of this page.

What is a credit?

For every semester of a class you take and pass (D or better), you earn 0.5 credits. A full year of a particular class will earn you 1 full credit. Most classes have an A and B Semester. You must pass both semesters to get credit for that class.

You must complete the BIG 22 Credits to graduate AHS!

Except for the Freshman Basics classes all classes last for 1 semester and are worth 0.5 Credits. In order for a class to count towards graduation, you must pass it with a D or better. Any failed class must either be retaken in Credit Recovery Lab or replaced with another equivalent credit. If you are a Junior or Senior, and you failed a required class previously, you are required to add Credit Recovery Lab to your schedule so that you can make up the credit.

The Big 22 includes the following:

4 Credits of English
4 Credits of Mathematics
3 Credits of Science with at least 2 being lab sciences
- Environmental Science A and Environmental Science B or 2 Semesters of Environmental Science.
- Biology A and Biology B or 2 Semesters of Biology
- Physical Science A and B or 2 Semesters of Physical Science or Robotics A and Robotics B or 2 Semesters of Robotics. This credit should be completed in your Senior year so that you are ready for a college lab environment. Robotics can also be taken earlier though if you wish to compete with VEX robotics.
3 Credits of Social Studies
- World History and Geography A and World History and Geography B or 2 Semesters of World History and Geography If you didn't take this as a Freshman, you need to add it to your course requests for the new year.
- American/AZ History A and American/AZ History B or 2 Semesters of American/AZ History This can be taken in your Sophomore year or Junior Year. If you don't take it as a Sophomore, you have to take it as a Junior.
- Government/Economics A and Government/Economics B or 2 Semesters of Government/Economics
1 Credit of CTE or Fine Arts
- 4 Freshman CTE Basics Classes (Education Basics, Business Basics, Shop Basics and Technology Basics) or Art A and Art B or 2 Semesters of Art.
- Alternatively you could take a year of one of the CTE Electives below.
1 Credit of PE/Health
- Health and PE A and B or 2 Semesters of Health and Physical Education.
7 Credits of Essentials (commonly referred to as elective credits)
- Credit Recovery Lab - Add this to your schedule only if you are a Junior or Senior and you failed one or more of your required credits previously.
- Teacher Aid (Seniors only - Approval Required)
- Sophomore CTE classes (1 semester exploration of any of the following CTE programs) Automotive Technologies I, Business Management I, Construction Technologies I, Early Childhood Education II, and Technology Devices Maintenance I. (Choose two to explore in your Sophomore year).
- Junior CTE Classes (must have taken the program you are choosing as a Sophomore or get the approval of the instructor) Automotive Technologies II, Business Management II, Construction Technologies II, Early Childhood Education III, or Technology Devices Maintenance II. ECE III and BT II classes receive dual credit from NPC and Alchesay. CTE classes lead to certification in the trade or discipline.
- Senior CTE Classes (must have taken Junior classes in the course to be considered). Automotive Technologies III, Business Management III, Construction Technologies III, Early Childhood Education IV/CDA, or Technology Devices Maintenance III. ECE IV/CDA and BT III classes receive dual credit from NPC and Alchesay. CTE classes lead to certification in the trade or discipline.
- Apache Language I and Apache Language II
- Health, PE and Strength and Conditioning
- Technological Inquiry
- Advanced Art
- Strength and Conditioning
- ECE or Business Internship
- Work-based learning credits will be available to Senior students only with approval by CTE Director. If you are interested in work-based learning credits, please see Laurel at the Daycare.
- Elementary Spanish I and Elementary Spanish II (These TALON classes require approval. Please fill out the form to the right if you would like to be considered for TALON)
- Introduction to Psychology and Developmental Psychology (These TALON classes require approval. Please fill out the form to the right if you would like to be considered for TALON)
- NAVIT classes lead to certification in a program and are taught at the NAVIT campus for NPC. Students are transported each day to the campus. You can get certification in any of the following: Welding Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assisting, Cosmetology, Nail Technician, Automotive Technologies or Fire Science. You must sign up for this program by the end of your Sophomore year. Please see Laurel Endfield in the Daycare if you are interested in NAVIT classes during your Freshman or Sophomore school year.

Each of the following classes require approval. Please fill out the form below if you are adding them to your course requests and would like to be considered.

TALON Classes (Juniors and Seniors Only). These are college classes taken on campus. Students receive dual credit from NPC and Alchesay High School. These classes count as honors classes and will add points to your GPA.
