Federal Programs is comprised of several programs that assist students by funding teachers, instructional assistants, supplies for classrooms, consultant services, and professional development opportunities for staff members.

Title I

This is the largest of all federal programs and employs the use of Instructional Assistants, Certified Teachers which provide Reading programs, Math programs, computer labs, extended school year and extended school day, tutoring, second and third opportunity Reading and Math programs. Ten percent of the program is set aside for parental choice of supplemental education services, ten percent of the funds are set aside for staff development, and one percent of funds are set aside for parental involvement.

Title II-A

This program provides 60% of its funds for professional and paraprofessional staff development in the areas of Math, Science, and Technology. The program also provides 40% of its resources for staff development in other content areas such as, Social Studies, Reading and Language Arts. Each campus is responsible for developing a staff development plan based upon the results of their staff qualifications survey and needs that emerge from their school improvement plans.

Title III

The purpose of this program is to serve children whose English language skills are lacking proficience in either reading, writing or speaking. Each campus develops its own strategies for serving children with these needs. The services provided include tutoring, oral language production, extended Writing activities, and Reading programs.

Title IV
This program is designated to address substance abuse issues that confront our children on a daily basis, to develop effective anti-substance abuse awareness, and provide substance abuse lessons K-12. Each campus has a coordinator which facilitates the implementation, and monitors the quality of its activities.

Title VII - Indian Education
This is the District's second largest program that has seen its focus change to support Reading and Math probability. It employs Certified Teachers and Instructional Assistants, tutoring, and the purchase of supplemental instructional materials and supplies. it also supports the cost of the production of the school calendar, now in its 25th ycar, as part of a strong Parent Involvement component.

Title VII - Elementary School Counseling

Demonstration Grant The district will operate a counseling program for elementary students at risk from April 1, 2009 to
March 1, 2012.
