About Canyon Day Junior High

Canyon Day Junior High located in Whiteriver, AZ on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation, was established in 2002, formerly known as Whiteriver Middle School. Our school mascot is the Rough Rider and the original artwork for the mascot was developed by a student, Dion Hawkins.

Our current enrollment is approximately 400 students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. We have approximately 50 staff members made up of teachers and multiple other support staff. Our staff is made up of individuals of all unique and diverse backgrounds.

Being a Rough Rider means our students and staff have grit. We all work hard and play hard. Our students are achieving and improving every day while our dedicate staff support students to reach for their fullest potential.

Being a Rough Rider is a positive state of mind and requires determination and hard work. Rough Riders are Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Excellent!

Welcome to Canyon Day where we make every day count.
